"AICE Member Invited to Moscow by Russia's President Putin to Represent
the U.S. and Receive an Award on National Unity Day"
Based on work through his company, Globe Language Services, Inc. www.globelanguage.com), with Dr. Yuri Akimov and others in the Russian Ministry of Education for the last 15 years, including assisting in The organization of the joint Russian/U.S. Project on the mutual understanding of educational credentials, George Fletcher, Ed.D., was invited by President Vladimir Putin to represent the United States at the Russian National Unity Day in November and to receive an award of appreciation (see photograph). President Putin inaugurated this holiday two years ago to encourage all Russians to celebrate their country together, regardless of church, political, etc. affiliations.
The ceremony was held in St. George's Hall, Grand Kremlin Palace, Moscow. The President greeted the ten award recipients from around The world and Russia one by one and presented the certificates. Afterwards, he joined the 1500 guests, including the Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church, Jewish representatives, and Prince Dmitri Romanov, among others, at a formal dinner in St. George's Hall. The event was televised throughout the country and official photographs were later mailed to the recipients.
